Somerset's county town is Taunton situated at the very west edge of the county, although not classed as a city it is a thriving market town offering most of the major retailers.

Somerset is famed for being part of the historic county of Wessex, ruled by King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. One of its most noticable landmarks is the Glastonbury Tor,  a large hill once believed  to be the famous Isle of Avalon where Arthur was laid to rest. On top of the Tor is the medieval Tower of the Chapel of St. Michael where the Holy Grail is fabled to be buried.
